This performance will be an entirely improvised freestyle routine. Each time is different, every sequence is unknown to me until it occurs. I trust that my body will communicate the message I feel in the moment I feel it. No one knows what it will look like, not even me.

How does language both articulate and quietly reduce our lived experience? an arm and a leg contests with the competing forms of body and voice, harmony and chaos and uses "binomial pairs" to question, what do we really know for certain? A mediation that exists somewhere between cotton-candy clouds and a torrential downpour.
Rows and floes of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way
But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all
- Joni Mitchell

NØIR
Nicholas Chrisman, artist alias “NØIR”, is a dancer, choreographer, and visionary born and raised in Portland, Oregon.
NØIR began dancing at 13 after being introduced to freestyle dance on YouTube and, through friends, got introduced to the local street dance community. From there he attended local events, competitions, and freestyle cyphers, quickly becoming an avid member of the dance community. NØIR trained at Groove Nation Dance Academy for 7 years and taught there as a main choreographer for 3 years, solidifying his choreography skills to be polished as much as his freestyle.
NØIR specializes in Hip Hop Freestyle, Popping, and Animation, but trains in a variety of other street/club dances as well. He believes in the importance of foundation and respecting the culture one partakes in, but also being true to who you are as an individual. Dance to him is about fun, but also expressing your true, authentic self.
NØIR’s past accolades and affiliations include Bang Bang Boogie winner, Lyfe Dance Company, Freshvibe, and Trail Blazer’s Rip City Dance Crew.
