About Class
FLUID provides a space for play, organic experimentalism and attunement. It invites artists who have experience in contemporary foundations who are interested in deepening their relationship to their innate movement language. Through guided improvisation, task based exercises and phrase work waiting to be challenged, we will expand what we know from our practices, learned techniques and physical habits. The intention is to pull inspiration from human gestures and natural interactions to build an independent and collective experience based in trust, vulnerability and collaboration. As an artist, she is interested in dismantling conventional standards of what dance is, what it should be and how it looks. Her dedication to the art, study and practice of facilitating spaces for exploration and play is rooted in a deep love to share knowledge, take care of others and become more embodied and connected to life. They are an unhindered creative seeking to feel stimulated and awakened in process, in communication, in research and in the heart. Their art-based, human practice is full of risk, questions and constant evolution. Some of the most impactful training they received was during their time abroad in Norway. She studied contemporary ballet and street dance at Follo Folkehøgskole and in the På Tå Hev Youth Company at Den Norske Opera & Ballet from 2017-2018. Since moving to New York in 2020, Lo has had experience being an assistant and member of Nitrogen the Company, as well as a teacher for The Basement Company in Long Island. Currently, she is completing her BFA in Dance at NYU Tisch and is studying movement through a pedagogical lens while she designs classes and creates works. They have now directed their teaching focus towards Future Dancers & Dancemakers at NYU; a program for high schoolers being taught and led by seniors studying in the Tisch Pedagogy class. Alongside this, Lo is in a work study position, assisting and co-teaching partnering and improvisation classes with Indah Walsh at NYU, and has been hired as a teacher for the Tisch Summer High School Dance Program for 2023.
