About Class

Masterclass with Ariel Freedman and Meredith Webster Wednesday, May 1 6:30 - 8:00pm Ages 14+ $15 drop in only We are honored to welcome two world-renowned artists, Meredith Webster and Ariel Freedman (San Francisco and Israel/Palestine respectively) to share a stage with us, May 3-5! Check out our event page for tickets! Ariel Freedman earned her BFA at The Juilliard School, where she received the Martha Hill Prize, in 2005. From 2006-2011 she was a part of the Ensemble Batsheva and the Batsheva Dance Company, during which time she received her education in Gaga as practitioner and teacher. She has originated roles in works by Ohad Naharin, Sharon Eyal, Bobbi Jene Smith, Ella Rothschild, Roy Assaf and Aszure Barton, and has performed with Kidd Pivot and Mikhail Baryshnikov’s Hell’s Kitchen Dance. In 2017 'Empress Archer,' a duet co-created with Meredith Webster and produced by The Cambrians, premiered in Chicago. In 2019 she created 'Mayagidu' with and for the community of Kibbutz Ramat HaKovesh. She participated in Suzanne Dellal Centre's 1|2|3 program for emerging choreographers with the creation of a solo ('Seven Minutes That Changed The World') and duet ('A Little Less Than 300 Years From Now') in 2022, emerging with works and colleagues she would then call upon for the social initiative 'Choreography, Conversation… and Cookies,' an event of performance and facilitated dialogue. Meredith T. Webster grew up in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, studying under Jean Wolfmeyer. She worked with Sonia Dawkins's Prism and Donald Byrd's Spectrum Dance Theatre in Seattle, and earned a B.S. in Sustainable Resource Sciences from the University of Washington before moving to San Francisco to work with Alonzo King LINES Ballet. She danced with Lines for 9 seasons, during which she won a Princess Grace Award. She then served as Rehearsal Director for LINES for 6 years and currently stages Alonzo’s work. Meredith has created site-specific work in collaboration with the visual artist Ana Teresa Fernandez, performed with Sharp&Fine, Ledoh/Salt Farm, and Maureen Whiting & Co, and co-created the Ladysmith Draw and Empress Archer evening-length duets. Her work for film includes Mirrors, Evidence of it All, Miles Away, and Numenon. She currently sits on the Board of Directors for Maureen Whiting & Co and lives on the unceded Ohlone land of xučyun (Huchiun), also known as Oakland, California. //LIMTED SPOTS// Dress Code -No Black Soled Shoes -Athletic wear -Socks or bare feet
