About Class
THURSDAYS// 6:30 - 7:45PM / The Station (8311 N Denver Ave) NEW TEACHER // Kiri Maasen Have you always wanted to take a ballet class but have never found the time? Did you dance growing up and have been looking for a way to continue your growth as an adult? If so, Beginner Ballet could be the class for you! This class focuses on the fundamentals of ballet technique, starting at the barre, but will also allow dancers the chance to put those skills to use in combinations across the floor. This class is catered to the level of the dancers in attendance and creates a fun and focussed environment for you to dance at your own level in a judgement free zone. Kiri Maasen is originally from St. Louis Missouri where she did her pre-professional training with teachers like Alicia Graf-Mack, Lee Nolting, Antonio Douthit-Boyd, and Kirven Douthit-Boyd. She has danced professionally in Volante, a salsa dance company based out of Boston, MA, and this is her second year with the Open Space Too training program in Portland, OR. Kiri has performed works by Johannes Weiland, Franco Nieto, Scott Jennings, and Megan Doheny & Ilya Nikurov. Kiri has been a dance teacher for almost 10 years and has a particular focus in teaching absolute beginner adults. Besides beginner ballet, Kiri also teaches all levels of Salsa On2. Kiri is so excited to join the cohort of wonderful and inspiring teachers at Open Space and looks forward to sharing her enthusiasm and joy for this art form with new and returning movers!
